At Husøy FUS Kindergarten, your child is welcomed by a warm, experienced, and close-knit team of adults who genuinely care about children. We focus on safety, closeness, and strong relationships. Here, children are encouraged to be themselves – to try, fail, succeed, jump, and run freely. Together with the children, we create an environment where play, learning, and humour go hand in hand.
Ship ahoy
The kindergarten is located in the heart of Tønsberg and Færder municipality, on the beautiful island of Husøy, with the sea as our closest neighbour. Children from both Tønsberg and Færder attend our kindergarten, forming an inclusive and maritime community. We actively use our local surroundings – the beach, the pier, the shoreline, and small wooded areas are natural destinations for excursions. Children experience boats, the swimming pool, and the coastal path, while learning to feel safe in and around water.
Play and Learning
All learning happens through play – and how we play makes all the difference. Through play, we challenge imagination and develop language skills, empathy, and friendships. Through our method, Child First, we ensure that adults see every child, create opportunities for play, and actively take part in it. We ask new questions rather than providing all the answers, create small adventures, and magical moments. We want your child to look forward to coming here – and that means it has to be fun!
Joy of Food
Playing all day requires energy, and healthy, nutritious food helps create both energy and a joy of eating. Children are served whole-grain bread, fruit, and vegetables every day, and a warm lunch once a week. The children take part in baking and are actively involved during mealtimes, which are characterized by calm moments and good conversations.
A Gentle Start
When your child starts with us, we take the time needed to get to know each other and to create a sense of security, in close cooperation with you as parents. Some children need an extra hand to hold when everything is new and unfamiliar – and we always have a lap to offer. The first time is filled with small moments of mastery and new experiences, and we do our very best to ensure a safe and positive transition into kindergarten life.
Do You Live in Færder Municipality?
The kindergarten is located in wonderful maritime surroundings on Husøy, just outside Færder. Due to our unique location, we warmly welcome children from Færder municipality to apply for a place with us. Applications are submitted via the Tønsberg municipality website.
